Eco Park is EcoFriendly
Just imagine a place where fun, nature, and kids are the focus! At the Eco Park we are working hard to create a place where kids can be kids, and the park will continue to evolve into an ecological wonder to behold. Here are just a few of the amazing kids activities available or on our wish list, that help make the Eco Park a special place.
Our trails and activity area abounds with the use of native plants all with name plates to encourage plant awareness and education
Our walking and fitness trails wend their way through a wide variety of habitat types-forest, meadow, pond, wetland, thicket, stream and hillside.
Our vegetable gardens with organic foods managed by seniors who share their knowledge and expertise with young people
We are even working to create a natural amphitheatre for outdoor concerts and presentations.
We are actively looking for a sponsor to help create an Eco-Centre for education and classroom discussion including microscopes to study pond water and other aspects of the micro-world
We have demonstration projects that explore alternative lawn materials and sustainable landscape practices.
The Graham Family Eco Park has an amazing water play area with swimming, zip-line, fishing and canoeing/kayaking in a natural pond environment!
We have a wide variety of birds, mammals, insects, fish and reptiles for children to discover and observe.
There are even constructed landscapes that provide educational opportunities for studying geology, hydrology and other natural sciences.
Our weather stations help record the changing climate and site weather patterns.
There are even wetland/marshes with bird boxes for ducks!
We have cabins for day and overnight use.
Imagine, there is even campfire space and areas for night time astronomy sessions away from the glare of the city.
We have a vision for climbing towers to challenge kids physically and develop a better understanding of their own physical abilities
2010 and our benefactors are providing a roofed pavilion for picnics and outdoor crafts.
There’s even parking with permeable paving surface designed to recharge the water table.
The Graham Family Eco Park uses of alternative energy sources to supply heat and electricity.
